Insert the antenna lead into the jack located on the bottom left corner of the DEH-2850MP.
2Plug the leads from your amplifier into the matching colored jacks on the back of the unit. Skip this step if you do not use an amp.
3Remove the wiring harness for the old stereo by snipping the leads with a set of wire cutters. Cut the harness off as close to the connector as possible.
4Strip approximately .5 inch of insulation from the ends of the wires.
5Match the wires to the wiring from the vehicle. Refer to the vehicle's wiring diagram if you are in doubt.
6Connect the yellow wire to a lead that receives consistent power. Attach the red wire to the lead. The black wire connects to the ground. The blue and white wire connects to the power antenna or amplifier. The speaker wires are color coded solid for the positive lead and the solid color alternating with black for the negative lead. White is the front left speaker, gray is the front right. The left rear speaker wires are green and right rear are violet.
7Slide a piece of heat shrink tubing over one of the individual leads. Twist the internal wires together and position the tubing over the connection. Apply heat from a heat gun to shrink the tubing and complete the joint. Repeat for the rest of the connections.
8Wrap any unused speaker wires in electrical tape to prevent short circuits.
9Insert the connector for the vehicle wiring harness into the multi-out socket on the back of the unit.
Tips & WarningsIf the vehicle doesn't have an accessories setting on the ignition, connect the red wire to the on/off ignition lead.
If you are using an amplifier with an external power source, do not connect the blue and white wire to the amp or antenna. Connecting the lead will cause the external battery to drain.
